NEWQUAY CC

Welcome to Newquay Cricket Club. We are pleased to offer senior league cricket of a good standard for players from the age of 13 to 60+. We also run junior and ladies sections - see below.

We play at the Newquay Sports Centre which boasts excellent facilities, not only for cricket. There are two cricket squares, outdoor net facility and an all-weather surface, superb changing rooms and bar. We particularly welcome anyone from other sports who may wish to play cricket - especially LADIES who train every Tuesday and will play in an evening league from the end of May.

All prospective LADIES (12 years and upwards) please call John Biddick on 07792 455 784.

The new 1st XI Captain for 2012 is Chris Willett who looks forward to the challenge in Division 1, with Joe Crane deputising. 2nd XI Captain is Chris Rippin - this team plays in Division 2; Tom Jayne will be shepherding the 3rd XI in Division 4 and Trevor Crane once again leads the 4th XI in Division 7. This is the ideal division for anyone aged 13 upwards who wishes to play enjoyable competitive 40-over cricket.
In addition we play in the St Newlyn East evening league each Wednesday - an enjoyable T20-style competition, open to everyone - especially those who can't play every weekend.

A brand new sightscreen was delivered in March 2012. Our new heavy-duty pitch covers arrived in July 2011 and a superb electronic scoreboard was installed in August 2011; the funding for these long-awaited improvements was secured after months of hard work by committee members.

Coach-led outdoor training sessions takes place every THURSDAY as this is our new club night. If you are interested in joining please just turn up from 6pm.

Junior training continues every MONDAY from 6pm - everyone is very welcome.

Youth teams at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 age groups play in the Kernow league. New players of all standards are always welcome - we have several qualified level 2 coaches available to help.

Contact Nigel Dawes for all youth matters. See Below.

Our cricketing outfields are level and well kept and we tend our own wickets through our own volunteers, but we are very proud of the wonderful changing, social and general sporting facilities here at the Sports Centre.
